Masterbatch SA (MBSA) supplies an extensive range of masterbatch, pigments and additives to the plastics industry. Our products incorporate scientific and technical excellence with a passion for creating colour in a responsible manner.
MBSA drives the following value parameters – traceability built on a world-class IT system, product engineering built by qualified technical and scientific experts, production built on superior process, and innovation built on an “open-lab” policy for customers. This value proposition is being driven by traceability and food safety packaged within the best industry lead times.
Investment in production assets at MBSA is primarily focused on capacity expansion and utilising ultra-modern equipment to maximise production efficiency.
MBSA is ISO 22000:2005 compliant which ensures that a strictly-controlled restrictive substance list as well as tightly-monitored production and testing procedures are adhered to, to ensure products that are safe for direct food contact. The wine glass and fork symbol displayed on the orange label of MBSA’s packaging provides customers with peace of mind that the product is heavy-metal free and that it can be used for direct food contact packaging applications, including food and water containers, cutlery and more.
MBSA also has ISO 9001:2008; ISO 14 001:2004 and OHSAS 18 001:2007 accreditations for quality, environmental and health & safety management systems.
Through an “Open Lab” policy a full understanding into each customer’s processes and daily challenges is gained, allowing MBSA’s technical experts to assist in improving operating efficiencies via masterbatch formulations and to advise on changes in industry regulations and product specifications.
Masterbatch is offered in two ways: as polyolefin polymer specific, with formulations available in the most common thermoplastics such as:
or universal that’s compatible with a broad range of polymer bases. Dry blends or pigments are also supplied. Convertors are advised on the most suitable masterbatch for the intended application and offered easy, reliable and cost-efficient ways of adding colour and/or performance enhancers to their product.
Additives impart properties which enhance the functionality and performance characteristics of a plastic product.
Among those additives commonly used are:
MBSA maintains a vast electronic library of colours from which convertors can select or through the use of advanced colour matching software a colour match can be carried out to a sample provided. A directory of standard colours is also kept to facilitate selections of more commonly used colours.
Shorter machine cycles, lean manufacturing and operational efficiency are the primary objectives for converters in order to stay competitive in the market and, to assist in this quest, MBSA commits to consistent, cost effective and optimised solutions.
