Nylacast has been in continuous production of cast nylons for over a quarter
of a century and are amongst the largest producers in the world. As a
result of Nylacast’s innovative nature they have substantially increased
the awareness and interest in the industrial world for these versatile
and cost-effective materials, for not only have they developed new and
important self-lubricating, wear resistant grades – Oilon and Nylube
– which have proved to be enormously successful, the Company also
designs and manufactures its own extrusion and cast nylon production technology,
some which is used by other leading polymer producers.
Nylacast’s
unique understanding of both the product and it’s means of production,
together with a universal knowledge of applications for the various grades,
allows the Company to place itself rightfully at the forefront in the
world of engineering plastics.
Nylacast’s growth in the Southern African market has been remarkable
and mainly due to its superior manufacturing capabilities allied to an
outstanding range of fine polymers which, to date, have already been chosen
by numerous market leading OEM’s for unsurpassed performance and
quality.
Ex-stock availability of semi-finished stock shapes including rod, plate,
tube and profiles in a range of engineering plastic materials such as
Cast Nylon, High Density Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Acetal and PET ensures
a huge size range and a reliable supply of leading brand products, including
OILON, NYLUBE and NYLANITE.
Nylacast’s Component manufacturing facility consumes a significant
proportion of the material produced by the extrusion and casting plants
in its endeavour to provide the end user with a complete service for their
application requirements. In an effort to meet the growing demands of
the market, Nylacast is constantly in the process of upgrading and expanding
its manufacturing facilities which include numerous CNC and manually operated
machinery. Highly skilled production staff ensure that all customer specifications
are met with top quality workmanship complimenting our world class materials.
Nylacast’s commitment to fully service its local and international
customers has led to an extrusion facility that focuses on the production
of
rod
and tube stock shapes in a range of engineering polymers. This facility
and it’s technology is unique to Nylacast South Africa where the
expanding polymer range and size availability has created a “one
stop” option to distributors and manufacturers looking for quality
and availability at competitive pricing.
-High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) Rod, Black or White,
in diameters from 16mm to 400mm and various standard lengths. The focus at Nylacast is on the monomer casting process which provides
a wide range of semi-finished cast nylon in standard profiles of Nylacast SA (Pty) Ltd
-Polypropylene (PP) Rod, Natural or Grey, in various
diameters and lengths
-Acetal (POM-C) Rod and Tube, Black or White, in various
size combinations and lengths
-Nylanite (Lubricated PET) Rod and Tube, Grey, a range
of tube and rod sizes available ex-stock.
Special sizes and colours of these materials may be specified on customer
request.
Cast Nylon Division
rod,
tube and plate. Nylacast is known to differentiate itself from its competitors
by means of extending both its grade and size range availability of cast
nylons, through constant production and process development.
In an effort to improve on efficiency and cost, a strong drive into custom
casting methods has proven successful, along with providing effective
problem solving locally, it has resulted in significant export opportunities
for labour intensive large quantity production runs. Custom casting is
possible for high volume runs on components weighing on excess of one
kilogram, depending on the intricacy of the part.
Our casting facility
has current capacity to produce tube in 16000 OD, ID combinations, solid
rod is available from 10mm to in excess of 1000mm, plate is cast in 2m
x 1m and 1m x 1m sizes with thicknesses from 8mm to 100mm. Custom casting
rings of over 2000mm in diameter, large blocks and square bar as well
as discs and billets in a huge size range is available subject to the
customers requirements.

Nylacast NATURAL
PA 6C
Primary engineering polymer, is suitable for virtually any plain bearing
application. Compared to Injection Moulding Nylons, Cast Nylons stand
out with their improved mechanical, thermal and chemical resistance properties.
The material has a higher tensile, compressive and impact strength and
improved resistance to creep and heat ageing.
Nylacast MOLY
PA6C + Lubricant blend
Improved crystallisation and a degree of self-lubrication occur by the
addition of molybdenum disulphide.
Hardness increases and simultaneously the general mechanical and anti-friction
properties are improved.
Nylacast AQUANYL
PA 612 C copolymer
Aquanyl is a copolymer of nylon 6 and nylon 12 produced by anionic polymerisation
of caprolactam and laurinlactam. The copolymer makeup gives the product
a greater degree of material resilience, reduces moisture absorption and
greatly improved impact resistance.

Nylacast H.S. BLUE
PA6C + Stabilisers
Additives in the form of high temperature resistant colorants, heat and
UV stabilisers allow this material to better retain mechanical properties
in applications operating at higher temperatures. The inorganic pigment
used to produce HS BLUE’S distinctive colour conforms to the specifications
required by the Japanese market for cast nylon.

Nylacast OILON
PA6C + Blended liquid lubricant
A complex blended oil lubrication system, uniformly distributed throughout
the product guarantees constant performance over the whole service life
of this exceptional oil-loaded nylon. Excellent sliding frictional properties,
abrasion resistance and stick/slip performance make this product a first
choice for unlubricated moving parts.

Nylacast NYLUBE
PA6C + Blended solid and liquid lubricant
This supreme wear resistant grade contains a combined liquid/solid lubricant
system, which allows for a coefficient of friction as low as 0.08. The
material has outstanding Pressure-Velocity capabilities and is particularly
suited to dry running bearing applications throughout a wide load and
speed range.
