Propak Cape 2014 sees New Product Showcase from Polyoak
Published:
Polyoak Packaging will once again be exhibiting at Propak Cape 2014 to thank their customers for their support and to showcase their latest innovation.
Convenient New Bucket Handle
Polyoak’s latest division, Contan Buckets & Pails will introduce their 5 L PolyCan with convenient new handle.
The risk of leaky buckets increases significantly when handles are applied by pushing the pins at each end of the handle into the sidewalls of the bucket.
By ultrasonically welding the handle onto the outside wall of the bucket instead, the strength of the structure is maintained while the risk of leaking is eliminated. The attachment of the handle is also very robust - and it looks great too!
The new handle makes the PolyCan convenient to carry and easy to pour, making it ideal for paint products which are often poured into a paint tray for roller application.
The polypropylene PolyCan is also tamper evident and easy to open without the need for a screwdriver, unlike many other plastic paint containers.
Best of all the PolyCan can be decorated with offset print in six colours with varnish; or IML in a matt, glossy or metallic finish!

The Game-Changing Retortable Barrier Tub
Dairypack Tubs are set to keep the momentum going following a WorldStar 2014 Award for Clover’s Butro Tub, testament to outstanding packaging solutions delivered through collaborative partnerships with their customers.
Visit the stand for more excitement as they launch South Africa’s first retortable barrier tub in plastic. This retortable tub range is now available exclusively from Dairypack Tubs, for the first time ever in South Africa, in licensed partnership with SuperLock, RPC Superfos.
The extraordinary feature of this advanced technology is that the barrier protection is possible on all surfaces of the tub which, together with the membrane seal on top, achieves an extremely low oxygen transmission rate. This means that convenience products can stay on shelf two to three times longer than in reference packaging.
Due to the special material used and proprietary label technology this innovative injection moulded solution is fully retortable in an autoclave.
This is a significant step forward for rigid plastic packaging as it extends shelf life for up to 24 months under ambient conditions, offering optimal product freshness and consumer convenience.
Such ambient solutions present a significant opportunity for products to be distributed throughout Africa with its limited cold storage and sparse domestic refrigeration.
The tubs can be hot filled, meaning that processed products traditionally packaged in glass or tin such as fruit, jam, pickles, soups and sauces can now be packed in cost-effective, light weight tubs that give the visual impression of glass. These mono material tubs are easily recyclable and in addition to being microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe, they are BPA free.
Equally the tubs are a great solution for cold filled products such as salads, dips, yoghurt and cheese. These liquid tight packs are even effective for highly sensitive foods such as cold meats, shellfish and fish based products.
Consumers will notice the eye-catching in-mould label decoration with razor sharp print quality possible on all surfaces, and the appetising view of the product through the glass clear transparent display window. And they will love the practical click-on screw lid which offers perfect re-closure and re-use, and contributes to longer product life in their kitchen.
Food manufacturers will appreciate the operational benefits of robust, low weight packaging that stacks perfectly, generates low noise on the filling line and reduces the risk of breakages.
Ultimately the new retortable barrier tubs can deliver significant cost savings in an optimised supply chain with reduced warehouse and transportation costs.
Karl Lambrecht, Chief Executive, Dairypack Tubs adds, “Dairypack Tubs are very excited about this innovative new range. A review of packaging trends from abroad has highlighted many case studies of food manufacturers successfully adopting this packaging. We believe that there is a significant first mover advantage for brands with a strong focus on consumer innovation to not only grow their market share, but also that of the category in which they participate.”
