Successful Fakuma 2026: BOY presents compact solutions and new impulses

BOY Showcased Compact Machine Solutions, Innovative Automation
and Practical Applications

Fakuma 2026 has once again demonstrated just how much technology can be packed into the smallest of spaces: in Friedrichshafen, BOY showcased compact machine solutions, innovative automation and practical applications. From 12 to 16 October, the injection moulding machine manufacturer presented a total of ten exhibits in Hall A7, seven of which were on its own stand, showcasing a cross-section of its current machine range. The compact design – a BOY speciality – was highlighted by the new LR 5 Compact Handling system and an extremely space-saving automated BOY 35 E VV. In addition, this year’s exhibition placed a particular emphasis on micro-injection moulding.

“We had many interesting discussions and were able to strengthen numerous existing customer relationships as well as establish new ones,” summarises Alfred Schiffer, Managing Partner of BOY.

Particular attention was paid to the new LR 5 Compact linear handling system. In this space-saving complete solution, the handling system – including the conveyor belt – is fully integrated under the protective cover, eliminating the need for any additional safety fencing and, consequently, for the EM67 and EM78. The required floor space has been reduced from around 5.2 to just 3.1 m², with a minimum ceiling height of only 2.6 m, whilst the unit remains transportable as a complete package. The control system, which is fully integrated into the Procan ALPHA® 6 machine control system, also enables shared data set and error management. The compact all-in-one solution attracted keen interest from numerous visitors.

The Electric series was also a key focus of the exhibition stand. Alongside the BOY 35 Electric and the BOY 50 Electric, the BOY 100 Electric – the largest electromechanical machine – was also presented. An automated application was demonstrated using the integrated LR 5 for the production of folding funnels made from liquid silicone (LSR: Liquid Silicone Rubber).

The Electric Barista Bar once again attracted a great deal of attention. At the BOY 50 Electric, a collaborative robot served freshly prepared espressos in cups that had been produced earlier on this injection moulding machine. The combination of injection moulding technology, automation and a product that visitors could experience first-hand proved to be a popular attraction at the stand once again this year.

Another key focus was micro-injection moulding. Two BOY XS E machines, each with a clamping force of 100 kN, were operating side by side to produce micro-components – one using LSR and the other using medical-grade polylactide (PLA). These applications demonstrated that even for very small components, full-scale injection moulding technology with an 8-mm 3-zone screw and the tried-and-tested first-in, first-out principle can be relied upon, ensuring that residence times remain short and dead zones are avoided.

In addition, BOY showcased the BOY 35 E VV, a vertical solution featuring space-saving automation for the production of a tool star handle with inserts. Using a flexible part-separation system from variobotic, three different bits were first separated, pre-positioned and then inserted – all using a 6-axis robot. The BOY 20 E PRO rounded off the range of exhibits as a compact entry-level model. No compromises were made on energy efficiency, as it features the same servo-motor-driven technology as the other injection moulding machines in the portfolio.

Alongside the technical highlights, the focus at Fakuma was above all on face-to-face interaction. “For us, Fakuma is always an important platform for staying close to our customers and the market. The discussions have provided us with valuable insights for our future development,” said Stefan Klöckner, Managing Director at BOY.

With seven exhibits at its own stand, as well as further machines on partner stands, BOY presented a wide range of compact injection moulding and automation solutions. The exhibition presence showcased not only the new colour design of the entire machine range, but also BOY’s consistent focus on space-saving, efficient and practical solutions.

BOY would like to thank all its customers, partners and visitors for the many interesting discussions at Fakuma 2026.
